Smart Farming News publishes news that changes what a reader should do next. If you have that, we want to hear from you.

What we publish

We cover this sector in the UK, and we are interested in the things that actually move, not marketing copy but events.

  • Energy and land use deals: solar, battery storage, biodiversity and carbon, with terms where public.
  • Diversification projects with the numbers attached.
  • Technology launches and trials where the cost and payback are stated.
  • Grants, schemes and tax changes where the consequence for a farm business is clear.
  • People. Farmers doing something worth copying, and appointments across the sector.

What we are less likely to run

  • Daily commodity prices and general farming news without a business decision attached
  • Consumer food and farm shop promotion
  • Political campaigning for or against any policy

How to send it

Email jb@smartfarmingnews.com. It reaches the editor directly.

Paste the release into the body of the email rather than attaching it, and include:

  • A link to the announcement or news hub on your own site
  • Any embargo date, clearly marked in the subject line
  • A named contact we can come back to with questions
  • Images as links rather than attachments, with any credit or licence noted

What happens next

We read everything. We cannot reply to everything, and a story we do not run this week may still be useful later, so nothing is wasted by sending it.

Where we publish, we write our own version rather than reproducing a release, and we will link to the company and to the original announcement. If a fact does not stand up we will ask before we print it, or leave it out.

Pitching a feature or an interview

Smart Farming News runs a regular interview with a farmer or landowner about how they actually run the business. If you or a client would make a good subject, say so in the same email and tell us in a line or two what makes the story worth a reader’s time.

For PR agencies

If you are building an agriculture, agtech or rural business media list, please add Smart Farming News. Releases sent to jb@smartfarmingnews.com reach the editor without going through a form.

Corrections

If we have published something inaccurate, email jb@smartfarmingnews.com with the article link and what is wrong, and we will correct it.
